The experience begins in Oltrarno, one of Florence’s most genuine and atmospheric neighbourhoods. From here, set off on a 4.5-hour panoramic cycling tour and witness the fascinating transition from the historic city centre to the peaceful Tuscan countryside.

The first part of the bike adventure lasts approximately one hour. Accompanied by your expert guide, leave central Florence through the magnificent Porta Romana, one of the city’s historic gateways. This is the only entrance where sections of the 13th-century city walls can still be seen surrounding the gateway, offering a fascinating glimpse into Florence’s past.

Your first 1.3-kilometre ascent takes you through an elegant residential area on the outskirts of the city. As you reach higher ground, the urban landscape gradually fades behind you and the rolling Tuscan countryside begins to unfold. This is the longest climb of the route, while the remaining three ascents are considerably shorter and more manageable.

Once you reach the countryside via quiet, historic roads, enjoy several opportunities to stop for photographs and discover fascinating details about the local flora and wildlife.

The route then leads to a charming farm nestled among the scenic hills, where your guide will introduce you to the estate and explain the traditional production of extra virgin olive oil. Take a leisurely walk through the olive grove and learn more about the craftsmanship and local traditions behind this essential Tuscan product.

To complete your countryside experience, relax with a glass of Chianti wine and enjoy a tasting of extra virgin olive oil produced from the very olives surrounding the estate, accompanied by delicious Tuscan cured meats and freshly baked bread.

After this delightful pause, climb back onto your bicycle and begin the return journey towards Florence. Along the way, pass through an historic Tuscan village associated with Galileo Galilei, where his former astronomical observatory can still be found.

Before reaching the city centre, make a stop at San Miniato al Monte, one of Florence’s most spectacular viewpoints. Pause to admire the breathtaking panorama over Florence, capture the perfect photo, and take in the magnificent scenery before beginning the final downhill stretch towards the historic centre.
